Ellwood City Arts, Crafts & Foods Festival Nine Girls Vied for 2015 Little Miss Firecracker AND THE WINNER IS…MIA ELIZABETH MEREDITH ! The Ellwood City Festival continued the tradition started last year by hosting the Second Annual Children’s Patriotic Pageant. It was on Friday, July 3rd at 11:15 a.m. Nine girls between the ages of 4 -7 were showcased by their personalities and patriotic outfits for the event. Pageant chairperson, Becky Guisler, notes, “The Festival has always been family oriented, with hundreds of families visiting every year as an annual tradition. Last year, we tried something new and different by hosting the pageant and it was a welcomed success. We’re hoping this year’s pageant was once again a delight to the families and friends of our contestants. ” The Patriotic Pageant is not a beauty pageant. The pageant is designed to celebrate our country and community friendships. Each contestant was required to obtain a $25 entry fee from a business sponsor. Each participating business was recognized throughout the pageant. “The idea of a business sponsor is to bring our community and businesses together in yet another way,” stated Guisler. The young ladies were judged in three categories; stage presence, patriotic outfit, and on-stage interview. In choosing judges this year, the Festival committee agreed it would be significant to have a retired veteran as one of the judges, to signify the patriotism of the pageant. Judges for this year’s event were Bob Morabito, Louise Carroll and Raylene Boots. Lena Rose Smith won the Most Patriotic Costume portion of the show. Pageant entries and their sponsors include: Kennedy Eichler – Wampum Underground; Molly Fisher – Lori L’s Hair Care; Margaret LeViere – Demtech Explosives; Brooklyn Meyer – Loccisano’s Market; Makenzie Michaels – Snyder Saw Service; Mia Elizabeth Meredith – Blocher Jewelers; Kardyn Pauletich – Nido’s Beauty Salon; LenaRose Smith – Heart’s Desire Floral and Gifts: Erilyn VanGorder – Joseph A. Tomon, Jr. Funeral Home & Crematory. Guisler noted, “I have spent some time with these girls and each one of them is adorable! They make me smile! I was excited to see them entertain our visitors. ” This year’s winner was crowned by the 2014 Little Miss and Little Mr. Firecracker, Carlee Meyer and Luke Bleakney. Junior pageant assistant, Eva Clow, passed out programs. Pageant committee members are Lori Hilliard, Nikki Mars and Maddie Bell. Print A Copy Of the Application HERE.
